More Wall Raising

The wheel wells are framed and will be boxed in and insulated. Where the panels meet there is a 3" by 2" post running the full length of the seam.

Wall Framing

I use 2x2's across the width of the trailer body about every 16 inches. A few of the ceiling beams are then reinforced with steel studs salvaged from the old trailer.

Wall Raising

We have lifted two of the SIP's into place and braced them while i fastened the bottom lip of the plywood into the platform with screws and construction adhesive.

Panel Construction

Here i am prefabricating one of the four SIP's
I use 5/8 fir ply outside with 2" eps foam and 5/16 hardwood ply inside.

They are glued together using an exterior carpet glue and pressed with heavy weights. All seams are staggered and I have used H clips on the exterior ply.

I have repaired the wheel wells from the old trailer and fastened them to the new platform. the wheel well openings have been covered with a strip if blueskin prior to installing the wells.

Platform Placing

Five of us flip the platform over and place it on the chassis.

I used several coats of water based asphaltic paint on the bottom of the platform and also fiberglass mesh tape on the seams for waterproofing.

Insulating Platform

Here I have insulated the platform frame and am sandwiching it beteen 5/8 plywood on the top and 3/8 inch ply on the boottom.
